Cadmium Yellow

Oil on panel Framed 54 x 44 cm 21 x 17 inches

POA

The second painting of this 2 year project was begun in mid winter. I wanted to make a collection of 4 paintings that have a common arrangement varied by different colour tubes of paint. I found this enormous lemon with its leaf intact but crinkly with dryness. There was little in the garden to link in with the yellow theme except an evergreen shrub’s lime-coloured leaves that add a freshness which appears to melt into the pale background here and there.

That is part of the story.  My story, but also your story - we all see things differently and getting to know a painting can bring ideas stimulated by the liveliness of the work. The frames are perfect - enhancing and presenting the jewel like ‘window’ before you.
